Update for those following our sailing trip ~ We’re safe, but we have to turn back to Panama to resolve an equipment issue.

Although we can possibly come up with ways to continue, we have very limited motoring range and we’re 5 days out

Yesterday was a welcome, light day, but not without excitement dodging squalls.

Mostly close-hauled and tacking, we quickly got in a routine of rolling in the genoa when the squalls hit.

This wasn’t a fun 24 hrs sailing. Of course winds on our first night were higher than forecast. Looking back on it, the Caribbean winds had ramped up and we had high spillover across the Panama isthmus to the Pacific. The PredictWind screenshot

Rattan bins allowing airflow contain onions and potatoes (they last forever here). Canned goods, pasta, condiments & nut supply make up majority of drawer space.

Mark recommissioned the watermaker with new membranes. The old ones were still working fine after 5 years, but we decided to go new for the Pacific. We actually pickled the old ones to keep as spares.
